The parts of the brain that are devoted to moving or perceiving a particular body part are called cortical maps, or Body Maps. By learning new, non habitual ways of moving, you can create new pathways within these maps through motion.
In this workshop we will learn, practice and explore movements that will lead to improved range of motion, joint mobility, dynamic stability and spatial awareness. You’ll also learn the neurological benefits and creative tools that become available from this approach to movement.
This movement based workshop draws on principles and techniques from various disciplines including martial arts, dance, somatics, acrobatics, functional neurology and circus arts.
